The next second, she had Sofia pinned to the ground.
Ronan tried to rush over, but two other officers restrained him.
“Don’t touch her! She doesn’t know anything!”
Miller cuffed Sofia and glanced at Ronan as if he were an idiot.
“Did you really think that gang would be kind enough to agree to a hostage exchange?”
“They would never send a real victim back unharmed.”
“This girl was raised by that gang to be a recruiter. She specializes in finding targets for them.”
My parents looked like they were about to collapse.
Ronan’s breathing grew ragged.
Sofia shook her head desperately, tears streaming down her face.
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry! I made a mistake!”
“I was just insecure! I was so afraid you wouldn’t want me!”
“I only wanted to get Amaris out of the way! I told them not to hurt her!”
I took out my phone and played a recording.
The conversation between the two men who abducted me filled the air.
When everyone heard them talk about selling me into the mountains as someone’s wife, their faces changed.
Sofia stared at me.
“You did this on purpose! You deliberately let Mom and Dad trade you!”
I crossed my arms and looked at her.
“If I hadn’t, how else could I have caught all of you?”
