If Your Heart Doesn’t Lean Towards Me I Don’t Want It Chapter 06

If Your Heart Doesn’t Lean Towards Me I Don’t Want It Chapter 06

After a few seconds of silence, I spoke again.

“A child should be born to two people who truly love each other.”

“Ellis and I haven’t had that for a long time. Maybe… maybe this is for the best.”

I was trying to comfort myself as much as I was trying to comfort the guilt-stricken man beside me.

The hospital room was quiet for a long time.

Finally, Lucian broke the silence.

“Coralie.”

“If I were to ask you again, right now, would your answer still be the same?”

I turned to look at him, and this time, I saw the hope in his eyes, clear as day.

I thought for a long moment before answering. “Maybe I made the wrong choice before.”

The answer was clear enough.

A light flickered in Lucian’s eyes.

I was about to say more when my phone buzzed.

It was a message from Ellis.

I had the tech team handle the video. Everything that could be deleted is gone. Forgive Tessa. Don’t make this a bigger deal than it is.

I looked at the message and laughed, a dry, humorless sound.

My mother had a heart attack. I lost my child.

And to Ellis, that was just me making things into a bigger deal.

Lucian saw the message over my shoulder.

After a pause, he said, “I saw the video online.”

“If you want to hold them accountable, I can connect you with an excellent lawyer. I’ll take care of everything.”

He added, “If that’s what you want.”

I cut him off.

“It is.”

My voice was calm, steady.

“The people who did this need to face the consequences.”

Lucian nodded.

This was probably the first time he had ever seen me say no to Ellis.

He had been waiting a long time for this day.
