If Your Heart Doesn’t Lean Towards Me I Don’t Want It Chapter 08
“Do you have any idea how worried I was? You were pregnant with our baby—do you have any idea…”
I finally cut him off.
“Ellis, we’re over.”
He looked at me, uncomprehending, frozen in place.
I made it plainer.
“That includes the baby who never had a chance to be born. That’s over, too.”
Ellis stared at me. His lips moved, but no sound came out for a long moment.
“What did you say?”
The next second, he seized my wrist.
“Coralie Ricci, you’d better explain yourself.”
I met his gaze.
“I’ve been perfectly clear. The baby is gone. We are done.”
His eyes were a terrifying red, his voice laced with anger.
“So that’s where you’ve been? Ignoring my calls, my messages?”
“You went and got rid of our baby. Coralie, do you have any idea how much I wanted that child?”
He was almost shouting now.
“That was my child, too! How could you make that decision by yourself? I don’t agree to this!”
“Tessa was right. You’re selfish. You killed my child!”
Looking at him, all I felt was a grim sort of pity.
I pulled the discharge summary from my bag and threw it in his face.
Ellis glanced down at it. He went rigid.
The report stated it clearly.
Termination of pregnancy due to extreme emotional distress and subsequent hemorrhage.
The time was listed right there: one hour after he and Tessa had walked out of my hospital room.
Ellis’s hand began to shake.
“That day…”
