My Fiancé Abandoned Me For Don’s Adopted Daughter But I’m Don’s Real Daughter Chapter 07
My father let out a sound that was not quite a scream, not quite a wail. Something more animal than human.
“Vincent, is this how you treat the woman who made you everything you are? Is this how you treat my daughter?”
Every thug and servant in Vincent’s house dropped to their knees. They didn’t dare hide anything anymore. They told my father everything, start to finish.
When he learned the full extent of what Vincent had done to me, my father’s eyes turn blood red and gave the order: Vincent’s entire extended family, every last blood relative, was to be erased.
Vincent lost every shred of the swagger he’d carried as an underboss. He crawled to me on his knees, begging.
“Rosa! My darling! We were together for three years. Doesn’t that count for anything? Please, save me! You loved me, didn’t you? Why didn’t you just tell me who you really were?”
I looked at the hysterical man in front of me and laughed coldly.
“I was about to tell you. You’re the one who called my family pathetic. You’re the one who refused to listen. Everything that’s happening to you now, you brought on yourself.”
My father was pleased that I wasn’t going to plead for mercy on Vincent’s behalf.
He gave the order. Vincent was to be taken to the family’s private facility. Every bone in his hands would be broken first, one by one, so he could never raise a fist again. Then his legs. Then every bone of his body. A dedicated medical team would keep him alive indefinitely, pumping him full of fluids and nutrients, ensuring he could not die.
My father carried my broken body back to the family estate and personally oversaw my recovery.
Three months later, I was finally able to walk again. .
But then my father suddenly refused to see me.
I forced my way into his private quarters and found him sitting at his desk. A letter lay in front of him, transferring full control of the family to me. A loaded gun sat beside it, the safety off.
I rushed to him and knocked the gun away.
“Poppa! What are you doing? I just came home. Why are you trying to leave me?”
My father looked at me with a hunger in his eyes, as if trying to memorize my face. Then he shook his head.
“When you were young, you hated me for the killing. You faked your own death to try to change me. And this time… Poppa still couldn’t control himself. I did things again that would make you unhappy…”
So that was it.
The servants in Vincent’s house who had once benefited from my kindness but stood by and watched as I was tortured, they had all been dealt with. Every one of them.
The thugs who had put their hands on me, dead.
The men who had helped Pearl, the ones who tied me up, who shaved my head, who kicked me down the aisle, had their hands and feet removed. They were hung from the gate of Vincent’s house, beaten day and night.
Even Lizz, the woman at headquarters who had intercepted my letter, her eighteen family members were buried alive, just as my father had promised.
My father spoke through his tears.
“Everyone who hurt you, Poppa couldn’t let a single one of them go. But I know I’ve failed you again. The only thing I can do now is leave the family to you and go to the next world first, to build a kingdom for my little girl on the other side.”
I shook my head, crying.
“No, Poppa. Every one of those people deserved what they got. I don’t blame you.”
My father finally abandoned the idea.
The truth was, I had been watching his transformation over these three years. I saw everything.
As the head of a family like ours, some measure of violence was unavoidable.
But as long as he wasn’t slaughtering innocents, he was a good man. The best man I knew.
After I fully recovered, my father formally named me as his successor.
My three years in the field, beyond what I did for Vincent, had given me a deep understanding of the streets, of the people at the bottom, of the operations that held the family together. Working alongside my father, we reshaped the organization from the ground up, turning it into something more disciplined, more strategic, less bloody.
When my father passed, I took his place.
From now on, every person under this family’s protection was mine to look after.
I raised a generation of sharp, principled, capable people. I trained them myself.
They were the future of everything my father built.
