Someone nearby was still egging him on.
“Matteo, your little follower confessed to you. Hurry up and reject her so she’ll stop dreaming.”
Laughter rang out around us.
Matteo seemed to finally realize what was happening.
He looked at me.
Fear instantly crushed every other emotion.
The words flew out of his mouth.
“I do… I’ll be your boyfriend… I really will.”
Everyone around him stared.
But he quietly stepped back, putting distance between us.
The next second, he shoved through the crowd and ran off campus.
From far away, I could still hear him shouting, “Cosima Vale, you crazy bitch! This time I’ll kill you first!”
The system spoke in my head.
“He ran. He’s the eldest son of the DeLuca family. Getting rid of a poor student like you would be easy for him.”
I looked in the direction he had disappeared.
