I Gave The Prince To My Sister And Found My True Mate Chapter 10

Things with Caleb and me moved smoothly.

My father, as the Alpha of the Cedar Valley Pack, agreed to remove my name from the royal candidate registry. The Northwatch Pack was willing to accept me, and Caleb’s superior approved his marriage leave.

The original plan was for Caleb and me to hold a small wedding on the same day Rosalie entered the royal family.

But two days later, something unexpected happened.

At dinner, Father set down his glass and said gravely, “The confirmation of Rosalie’s engagement to Prince Lucian has to be postponed.”

Mother’s face changed at once.

“Why? Didn’t the royal family already receive the transfer request for the red card?”

“The Royal Castle just sent word. Lucian reviewed the identity records and footage from the drawing. He said he will only recognize the person who drew the red card with their own hand.”

Mother stopped breathing for a moment.

“He knows it was Audrey?”

Father glanced at me.

“Eat first.”

I lowered my head and cut the food on my plate. On the surface, I showed nothing, but inside, a storm was gathering.

After dinner, I found an excuse to leave the territory.

I didn’t go anywhere else. I went only to a small chapel on the east side of the capital, one open to all Packs.

In my last life, I had once written a prayer card there for Lucian.

Heavy snow had blocked the roads that day, and I had sat alone in the empty chapel for a long time, wishing only for his safety and for him to inherit the throne without trouble.

Thinking back on it now, the memory was absurd.

I sat in the last row and prayed for nothing at all.

Then footsteps sounded behind me.

“You seem to like this place.”

My spine went rigid.

It was Lucian.

Today he wore only a light gray overcoat, no royal crest, and the Royal Guard had remained outside. He looked less like an heir to the throne than an ordinary young man from a privileged family.

“Why are you here?” I stood, keeping a polite distance between us.

Lucian didn’t answer right away.

He let the silence drag on, the Crown Prince’s innate Alpha pressure inching closer in the still chapel.

Only when my legs began to ache from instinctively resisting it did he draw the force back.

“About the red card, I’ll ask you one more time.”

He walked up to me, his voice very light, as if the matter were of no importance at all.

“Do you really intend to give the engagement to Rosalie?”

“She’s better suited to the royal family than I am, and better suited to you.”

Lucian smiled.

“Audrey, you didn’t used to be like this.”
