They Called My Daughter A Bastard Until The Lycan Queen Called Me Mom Chapter 06

Every Lie

A young maid is the first to step forward.

She glances nervously at Lily.

“I don’t know everything.”

“But Miss Lily lied about Sera pushing her into the lake.”

Derek’s head snaps up.

The maid swallows.

“I saw it myself.”

“Miss Lily saw Mr. Derek approaching. Then she deliberately fell into the water.”

Several other maids immediately nod.

“I saw it too.”

“So did I.”

“Miss Lily was insulting Sera right before it happened. The second Mr. Derek showed up, she changed completely.”

Lily screams.

“You’re lying!”

Her eyes flash with her wolf as she tries to shift.

“Every one of you is lying!”

She points at the maids.

“I’ll have all of you thrown into the Pit!”

Her screaming gets on my nerves.

“Rosalie.”

Rosalie stuffs a cloth into Lily’s mouth and drags her into the corner, pinning her down before she can shift.

Lily struggles against her, pleading with Gavin, Helena, and Derek with her eyes.

None of them moves. None of them dares to shift under the weight of Kael’s Alpha aura.

Derek looks sick.

“I slapped Sera over that.”

His voice cracks.

“I called her a jealous lunatic.”

He looks at the maid.

“So Lily jumped in herself?”

I have no sympathy for him.

I gesture to Rosalie.

She places a pouch of gold in the maid’s hands.

“My lady keeps her word.”

The girl stares at it.

The other servants see the gold.

Their last bit of hesitation disappears.

Another maid steps forward.

“Lily also lied about Sera hurting her horse.”

Derek looks up.

“She told us Sera tampered with it.”

The maid shakes her head.

“No. Miss Lily did it herself.”

Another voice comes from the line.

“And the ceremonial gown.”

“Miss Lily cut it up herself the night before, then blamed Sera.”

“After that, you took Sera’s belongings away and gave them to Lily.”

One servant looks bitterly at the Blackwoods.

“We wanted to speak before.”

“But Alpha Gavin, Luna Helena, and Mr. Derek always believed Miss Lily.”

“No matter what Sera said, you assumed she was lying.”

“So we kept quiet.”

One truth after another fills the hall.

Gavin looks like all the strength has left him.

Helena’s face is gray.

Derek’s eyes are bloodshot.

Then one final maid steps forward.

I recognize her.

Lily’s personal maid.

The second Lily sees her, she starts struggling against Rosalie again.

The maid drops to her knees.

“I know about the poisoning.”

Helena stiffens.

“The time Sera supposedly poisoned Lily?”

The maid nods.

“Lily staged that too.”

“She took the poison herself because she knew the dose wouldn’t kill her.”

“Then she blamed Sera.”

Derek goes completely still.

The maid looks at all three Blackwoods.

“None of you listened when Sera tried to explain.”

“And after Lily kept pushing you, you sent Sera to the Pit.”

Lily lets out a muffled scream.

The maid’s face turns pale.

“But that’s not the worst part.”

My chest tightens.

She looks at me.

“Lily bribed the Pit’s warden.”

The room goes silent.

“She told him Sera’s own family wanted her broken.”

Helena gasps.

The maid’s voice trembles.

“They dosed Sera with wolfsbane so her wolf couldn’t heal her or let her shift.”

“They chained her up.”

“And they whipped her until she stopped breathing.”

Gavin’s eyes widen.

Helena stumbles back.

Derek turns toward Lily like he’s never seen her before.

“You…”

His face twists.

“You told us you’d treat Sera like your real sister.”

Gavin snarls.

“You had her killed?”

Derek lunges first.

“You fucking bitch!”

He grabs Lily.

Gavin and Helena join him.

The same three wolves who protected her for months now turn on her at once.

Lily’s screams fill the hall.

I don’t stop them.

By the time they pull back, Lily is covered in blood and can barely stay upright.

Then Gavin suddenly freezes.

His eyes lock on the doorway.

Helena turns.

So does Derek.

Hope explodes across all three faces.

“Sera!”

Derek staggers to his feet.

“I knew it!”

He points at the woman walking through the door.

“Sera, you’re alive!”
