They Called My Daughter A Bastard Until The Lycan Queen Called Me Mom Chapter 02

Her Powerful Backers

The guests go quiet for a second.

Then the whispers start.

“So those mating gifts don’t belong to Blackwood Pack?”

“No wonder someone came in with armed guards.”

“I knew something was off. Blackwood isn’t rich enough to put on a display like this.”

Another guest lowers his voice.

“I heard the girl named Sera is actually Gavin and Helena’s biological daughter. Lily is the one they adopted.”

“What?”

“So they took their real daughter’s property and gave it to the adopted one?”

Gavin’s face darkens.

Helena looks embarrassed, but only for a moment.

“She brought those things into Blackwood territory,” Gavin snaps. “That makes them Blackwood property.”

Helena lifts her chin.

“Besides, Sera hurt Lily again and again. She owes her.”

I’m so angry I almost laugh.

Before I can teach these two a proper lesson, a voice roars from the entrance.

“Who the hell is causing trouble in my Pack?”

I know that voice.

Derek Blackwood.

Blackwood Pack’s Alpha heir.

The one who came to take Sera home.

I signal my guards to let him through.

He rushes in and freezes when he sees his father with a blade at his throat and his mother’s swollen face.

“Father! Mother!”

Lily throws herself into his arms first, sobbing.

“Brother, you’re finally back.”

Her voice breaks.

“These people came because of Sera. Please, make them stop hurting Father and Mother.”

She wipes at her tears.

“If my sister wants to ruin my Mating Ceremony, fine. If she wants me to kneel and apologize, I’ll do it. I just don’t want anyone else hurt.”

Derek holds her tighter.

“Don’t be stupid.”

His wolf rumbles under his voice.

“You’re not kneeling to that bitch.”

Lily looks up at him with red eyes.

“Brother…”

“Today is your day. Focus on your ceremony. I’ll handle her mess.”

He turns toward us.

“I’ll deal with Sera’s people.”

I watch this little performance in silence. My patience is gone.

Rosalie hands me my spiked gloves. Then she kicks Derek square in the knee.

Derek screams and drops to his knees right in front of me.

Before he can shift, two guards force his shoulders down.

I slap Derek across the face.

“You promised me you would take care of Sera.”

His head snaps sideways.

I slap him again.

“Looks like you lied.”

Derek clutches his bleeding face, hissing in pain, and finally gets a good look at me.

His face changes.

“You.”

For one second, guilt flashes in his eyes.

Then it vanishes.

“She brought it on herself!”

I stare at him.

“Explain.”

“Since she came back, she’s hurt Lily over and over.”

His jaw tightens.

“She even used Lily’s kindness to lure her out and hired male wolves to assault her.”

The guests gasp.

Derek looks at me like he expects that to settle everything.

“A female that vicious doesn’t deserve to be a Blackwood.”

I look from him to Gavin and Helena.

All three wear the same disgust.

They truly believe every word.

“Well, well, well. So this whole family is rotten to the core.”

“A pack so broke you have to steal another girl’s mating gifts — and you think my daughter was desperate to belong here?”

Their faces go dark with rage.

“You’re nothing but a lowborn merchant.”

She looks me over with contempt.

“One word from us, and your entire household could be destroyed.”

Helena lifts her voice so the guests can hear.

“Royal Commander Kael Hart personally recognized Lily as his younger sister and sent expensive gifts for her mating ceremony.”

She keeps going.

“And the Lycan Queen herself favors Lily. Her Majesty had the best royal seamstress make Lily’s wedding gown.”

Lily touches the white fabric at her waist, looking almost shy.

Gavin finally looks confident again.

“They’re both coming today. You keep this up, and you’re dead.”

Almost on cue, heavy footsteps echo from outside.

Guests move aside.

A tall, broad-shouldered figure strides through the gate, his voice low and dangerous.

“What the hell is going on here? Who’s trying to ruin my little sister’s ceremony?”
