They Called My Daughter A Bastard Until The Lycan Queen Called Me Mom Chapter 07

The Lycan Queen

For one stupid second, my heart jumps.

Even though I know Kael would never lie to me, I still look toward the door.

One glance is enough.

That woman is not Sera.

Pain twists through my chest.

I close my eyes for a moment and sit back down.

By the time the woman steps into the hall, the Blackwoods realize it too.

The hope on their faces dies.

Everyone else drops to their knees.

“The Lycan Queen!”

“Your Majesty!”

The woman raises one hand.

“I’m here privately. Get up.”

Before anyone can move, Lily tears herself away from Gavin and Derek and rushes forward.

“Your Majesty!”

She looks like she has found her last lifeline.

“I’m Lily Blackwood. Please, you have to help me.”

“You said you admired me. And when you heard about my Mating Ceremony, you even sent me this ceremonial gown.”

She grabs the skirt with trembling hands.

“These people ruined my ceremony and framed me for things I didn’t do. Please clear my name.”

Tears pour down her face.

This time, even the Blackwoods look at her with disgust.

The Queen does too.

Her expression doesn’t change.

“I sent you that gown?”

Lily freezes.

The Queen looks her up and down.

“Who told you it was for you?”

The room goes silent.

Lily’s face turns white.

Someone in the crowd whispers, “Didn’t the exact same thing just happen with Commander Hart?”

Another guest sucks in a breath.

“Wait.”

“Her Majesty was Elena Hart before she became Queen.”

“Commander Hart…”

Every eye in the hall turns toward me.

Elena walks straight past Lily.

Then she stops in front of me.

“Mom.”

Her voice softens.

“I’m sorry I’m late.”

The hall erupts.

“What?”

“The Lycan Queen is her daughter too?”

“Commander Hart and the Queen are siblings?”

“Who is this woman?”

I ignore the noise.

“Did you take care of what I asked?”

Elena nods.

“Yes.”

Her gaze drops briefly to the white-covered body in Kael’s arms.

Pain flashes across her face.

“And I brought the person you wanted.”

Then she looks at me again.

“I’m sorry, Mom.”

“I’ve been in Royal City this whole time, and I still failed to protect Sera.”

Her expression turns cold as she faces the Blackwoods.

“You killed my sister.”

The temperature in the room seems to drop.

“Now we’ll see whether Blackwood Pack can survive the consequences.”

No one speaks.

No one dares.

Lily sinks to the floor.

Whatever hope she had left is gone.

Derek stares at Elena as if he can barely hear her.

Then he looks at Kael.

At the body in his arms.

His face starts to shake.

“You’re the Lycan Queen.”

His voice is barely audible.

“No one would dare lie to you about something like this.”

He grips his head.

“So… Sera really is dead?”

No one answers.

Derek’s breathing turns ragged.

“How is that possible?”

“We only wanted to punish her.”

“We only wanted her to learn her lesson.”

His voice cracks.

“We never wanted her dead.”

He looks at the body again.

“She’s my sister.”

“My only biological sister.”

Gavin and Helena stare at Kael’s arms too.

Helena’s lips tremble.

Gavin looks like he has aged ten years in minutes.

Finally Helena whispers, “Did we…”

Her voice breaks.

“Did we really kill our own daughter?”
