They Called My Daughter A Bastard Until The Lycan Queen Called Me Mom Chapter 09

My Daughter Comes Home

Helena’s question is full of regret.

I feel nothing for her.

“With me, Sera was never a problem.”

Helena flinches.

I look at her coldly.

“The only mistake she ever made was coming back to people like you.”

“Her biological mother.”

“Her biological father.”

“Her biological brother.”

“You were supposed to be her family.”

“You were the ones who destroyed her.”

Helena’s whole body starts shaking.

She closes her eyes.

Then, before anyone can stop her, she turns and throws herself headfirst into one of the stone pillars.

The room falls silent.

Helena drops to the floor and doesn’t move again.

Gavin stares at her.

Derek goes white.

Even Lily stops screaming.

I stand.

“Don’t worry.”

My voice is calm.

“None of you are getting away.”

I glance at Helena’s body.

“If you’re really as sorry as you claim, then paying for Sera with your lives shouldn’t be a problem.”

Elena looks at the remaining Blackwoods with disgust.

“I’ve already notified the Royal Tribunal.”

“If you have anything left to say, say it there.”

Then she looks at Lily.

“And your Mating Ceremony is over.”

“Alpha heir Noah Ashford heard what happened and returned to Silvercrest Pack.”

“You don’t need to wait for your mate anymore.”

Lily collapses.

Kael and Elena follow me out of Blackwood Pack House.

The guests don’t stop us.

By the next day, Gavin, Derek, Lily, and everyone directly involved in Sera’s death are locked in the Royal prison.

Their public execution is set for three days later.

Blackwood Pack is finished.

My name spreads across Royal City just as quickly.

Everyone suddenly wants to know the woman who raised both the Lycan Queen and the Royal Commander.

I refuse every invitation.

I don’t want their attention.

I only want to take Sera home.

Kael and Elena come to see me off.

“Mom.”

Elena takes my hand.

“Stay in Royal City.”

Kael nods.

“You can live with us.”

I haven’t seen either of them look this uncertain in years.

One commands the Royal Army.

The other is the Lycan Queen.

But right now, they look like my children again.

I shake my head.

“I don’t like this city.”

Rosalie helps me into the carriage.

Kael and Elena stand there as we leave.

Their figures slowly disappear behind us.

No matter how powerful they become, they will always be my children.

Even though neither of them shares my blood.

Twenty years ago, after a disaster drove me out of Royal City, I found Kael and Elena abandoned outside the city at different times.

Both were still infants.

I brought them home.

I raised them.

I never imagined one would grow up to command the Royal Army and the other would become the Lycan Queen.

After they gained power, they even helped me settle the wrongs that once forced me away.

Sera was the third child I found.

I thought that with me, Kael, and Elena protecting her, she would live a safe and happy life.

I was wrong.

Inside the carriage, blocks of ice surround Sera’s body.

It is the hottest part of summer.

Yet after all this time, there is still no sign of decay.

I stare at her.

Then my heart suddenly pounds.

An impossible thought hits me.

Three days later, we reach Southridge.

I don’t hold a funeral.

I don’t bury her.

Instead, I place Sera in her old room and care for her as if she is only sleeping.

Everyone in the house thinks grief has made me lose my mind.

No one dares say it to my face.

Three more days pass.

Then Sera opens her eyes.

She looks at me and smiles weakly.

“Mom, I’m awake.”

My breath catches.

“I’m sorry.”

Her voice is soft.

“Did I scare you?”

I pull her into my arms.

My daughter is alive.

Before Sera left for Blackwood Pack, I gave her a rare fake-death potion that cost me a fortune.

I told her to take it if her life was ever in danger.

For up to seven days, it could slow her body so completely that she would appear dead.

I only had to find her before the time ran out.

And I did.

Sera is back in my arms.

Alive.

My daughter finally comes home.
