Abandoned XXL Wife: My Second Husband Is A Tycoon Chapter 09
Mrs. Foster waved a hand.
“William, you’ve crossed the line.”
“Starting tomorrow, you’re no longer working for this family.”
William stared at her in disbelief.
“Mrs. Foster, I’ve worked for the Fosters for over thirty years!”
“Yes. You’ve worked hard all these years. If you’d remembered your place, this family would’ve taken care of you for the rest of your life.”
She looked at him coldly.
“But you wanted more. That’s your own fault.”
William’s face fell.
A few security men grabbed him and dragged him out of the estate while he protested.
Ethan turned to me.
“Has William been giving you trouble lately?”
“No.”
I shook my head a little too quickly.
Charlie immediately jumped in.
“Yes, he has!”
“Every time Mommy needed something, William said we didn’t have it.”
“And he always complained that Mommy’s clothes took up too much space.”
“He threw some of them away!”
Ethan’s face darkened.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I…”
I lowered my eyes.
“It didn’t seem important. I thought I could just put up with it.”
“You’re my wife.”
Ethan took my hand.
“You don’t have to put up with anything.”
“If someone gives you trouble, tell me.”
The reminder I’d been about to give him got stuck in my throat.
We’re only married because of a contract.
I couldn’t bring myself to say it.
Mrs. Foster smiled.
“Ethan, take good care of your wife when you get home.”
Then she looked at me.
“Sophie, there’s something else. I don’t know if Ethan has told you…”
“Mom.” Ethan cut her off.
Mrs. Foster looked at him.
Then she smiled knowingly.
“Fine. I won’t interfere.”
“When the time is right, Ethan will tell you himself.”
Tell me what?
I couldn’t help wondering.
Later, Ethan went back to the ballroom to entertain the guests.
I took Charlie into the garden.
We were walking among the flowers when someone suddenly dropped over the garden wall.
I immediately stepped in front of Charlie.
The man hit the ground, rolled, then scrambled to his feet. He brushed the dirt off his clothes.
Then he looked up.
Our eyes met.
“Daniel?”
My heart jumped.
Daniel looked just as surprised.
Then he smiled.
“So you’re working for the Fosters.”
“You could’ve told me. I wouldn’t have had to climb the wall.”
“I’ve been trying to get a meeting with Ethan for weeks. He finally agreed to see me, then changed his mind.”
He glanced at my dress. His expression shifted.
“Sophie.”
“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you dressed like this.”
He looked me up and down.
“The Fosters really are generous. Even their staff gets clothes like that?”
“That dress must’ve cost a fortune.”
He smiled.
“My car is outside.”
“Once I’m done talking business with Ethan, come home with me.”
I looked at him coldly.
“Daniel, I already told you. I’m never going back.”
His smile disappeared.
“When I close this deal with Ethan, the Kane family will be on another level.”
“You’ll regret turning me down. Maybe you’ll be the one begging me to take you back.”
“Get lost.”
I took Charlie’s hand and walked inside.
I wasn’t going to waste another minute on him.
A staff member soon came looking for me.
“Mrs. Foster, Mr. Foster wants you in the ballroom.”
