Among All The Stars I Found You Chapter 06
There was a smear of bright red lipstick on the collar of Preston’s white shirt.
A chill spread through my body.
I thought of Juliette, walking around our house in his shirt.
There was no need to guess anymore.
When no one was near the bed, I leaned down and kissed Leo’s forehead, then quietly left the room.
…
Leo was sleeping soundly in the hospital bed.
After a while, he opened his eyes and immediately began to cry.
“Mom, Mom…”
Juliette rushed over to comfort him, but Leo pushed her away.
“Go away! I want my mom!”
He was crying so hard he could barely breathe.
“Dad, did Mom not like the craft I made? Is that why she left? Why didn’t she come see me when I was sick?”
Preston sat on the edge of the bed, his voice soft as he tried to soothe him.
“No. Don’t think that. Your mom loves you more than anything. She would never dislike your craft.”
“She just…”
He trailed off, unable to finish.
He had checked his phone multiple times, confirming he’d sent the restaurant address.
He still couldn’t understand why Selena had been so late.
Now, watching Leo sob, he finally had an excuse to call her.
But he called ten times in a row, and she didn’t answer once.
A sense of unease began to settle in his chest.
Leo was the most important person in the world to Selena. She would never just ignore him.
Unless something had happened to her.
Just then, his mother arrived to take over watching Leo, and Preston drove straight home.
But there was no sign of Selena.
The housekeeper looked surprised to see him.
“Mrs. Rhodes left with her luggage.”
“I asked when she’d be back, and she said…”
The housekeeper glanced at him, her expression hesitant.
“She said she wasn’t coming back.”
Preston looked up, his face a mask of shock.
“What?”
His eyes swept the room and landed on the papers on the coffee table.
His breath caught in his throat.
The words on the cover were stark and unmistakable.
Divorce Agreement.Â
