Among All The Stars I Found You Chapter 08

A while later, he drove to my mother’s grave.

When he saw the fresh bouquet in front of the headstone, he knew he’d been right.

He had just come too late.

He stood before the grave for a long time, motionless.

“Mrs. Pierce, where did Selena go? I can’t find her.”

His voice was low and rough.

Just then, his assistant called.

“Mr. Rhodes, should we do something about the stories online?”

The assistant sent over several screenshots.

The headlines were absurdly dramatic.

[The Mysterious Mrs. Rhodes Is Actually Juliette.]

The articles were filled with photos of him and Juliette at the hospital with Leo.

There were also screenshots from the college alumni Facebook group.

Every one of Juliette’s carefully calculated comments had been captured.

I was in that group.

Only then did Preston understand just how much Juliette had been orchestrating behind his back.

A vein throbbed at his temple.

He dialed Juliette’s number.

The moment she answered, he spoke, his voice dangerously quiet.

“Didn’t I tell you not to bother Selena?”

“If you can’t keep your word, then I’ll tell everyone the truth.”

Juliette was still at the hospital.

She froze for a moment, then her voice rose in indignation.

“How am I bothering her? I’m Leo’s mother. She’s the one who took my place and married into your family.”

Preston’s reply was glacial.

“You’re in no position to say that. You’re the one who abandoned Leo. Do I need to remind you?”

Juliette’s voice trembled with anger.

“I had no choice back then! Besides, Selena has always been greedy. Isn’t that why she married you?”

That only made Preston angrier.

“Don’t you dare compare yourself to her.”

“You’re not fit to be in the same room as her.”

Then he hung up.

After the call ended, even he was stunned by his own reaction.

He had actually called Juliette just to tear her down.

He took off his glasses and rubbed the bridge of his nose.

It had been years since he’d lost his composure like that.
