Among All The Stars I Found You Chapter 11
The moment the words left his mouth, his mother was stunned.
Preston was stunned, too.
But once he’d said it, the idea didn’t seem so bad.
Marriage would make him look more settled, more stable.
His mother didn’t question him.
“As long as Selena is willing, I have no objections.”
And just like that, they were married.
On the day they went to City Hall, Preston had written down his real name.
I had stared at the paperwork, clearly confused.
“Why Preston? I thought…”
His heart had pounded in his chest, but he kept his face calm.
“It was the name I used most often before.”
I had only said, “Oh,” and asked nothing more.
He had let out a silent breath of relief.
The registration papers in his hand had been slick with sweat.
After they were married, he rarely took me to public events.
He couldn’t stand the thought of hearing people call me Patrick’s wife.
I had always been Preston’s wife.
He was already laying the groundwork, trying to untangle his identity from his brother’s.
But Juliette still found him.
While abroad, she had discovered the truth about the twins and learned that Preston was living as Patrick.
She used that to threaten the Rhodes family.
Preston wasn’t afraid of her.
He just didn’t want more complications at such a critical stage.
Besides, Juliette’s initial request hadn’t seemed too excessive.
She only wanted to see Leo and spend a few days with him.
Preston had agreed.
Looking back, it was probably the biggest mistake he had ever made.
The person Juliette had been targeting from the start was me.
After knowing me for so many years, she knew exactly where to twist the knife.
But she had miscalculated one thing.
She never expected Preston to care about me as much as he did.Â
