At My Baby Shower He Celebrated Another Woman’s Child Chapter 14

He clenched his soggy sleeve in his fists.

“On our wedding day, I swore I’d make you the happiest woman alive. I meant it. I just… I lost my way.”

“Betrayal isn’t losing your way,” I cut in calmly.

“Every time you moved our money, every time you let Sadie humiliate me, every time you lied to the police—those were all choices.”

“I can change!”

“But Iris can’t come back.”

I turned and got into the car.

Graham lunged for the window, slapping his palm hard against the glass.

“Nora, please—don’t go!”

I gave him one last look.

“What you lost wasn’t another chance. It was the right to ever be forgiven by me.”

The window rose slowly, sealing out his cries and the pounding rain.

As the car pulled away from the club, I didn’t look back.

Moments later, Graham’s call came through.

I answered. Before he could speak, I said, “I didn’t come here today to get back together with you. I came to get justice for Iris.”

On the other end of the line, there was only the sound of a man’s muffled weeping.
