Betrayed By My Best Friend I Revealed My Billionaire Heiress Identity Chapter 07
Chapter 7:The Stage Is Set
Over the next week, I don’t go back to that run-down apartment. I move back to the family estate.
Online, the firestorm—quietly fueled by Kensington Corp’s PR machine—has exploded beyond control.
Sloane has been crowned “The Brave Heiress Who Stood Up to School Violence.”
Maya is now “The Resilient Scholarship Student Who Survived Hell.”
They’ve even gotten signing offers from a few small influencer agencies.
Everywhere they go—flowers, applause, admiration. Everything they ever dreamed of.
One week later. Westbrook’s Centennial Gala.
As one of the city’s top prep schools, the event is massive.
Red carpet outside the main auditorium. The Board of Education. Reporters from every outlet. Distinguished alumni from decades past.
To hype up his daughter’s big moment, Richard Ashford bought out every flower arrangement lining the school entrance. He even hired a personal security team to clear a path for Sloane.
Sloane struts down the red carpet in a crystal-encrusted couture gown worth six figures. Posing for cameras like a proud peacock.
Maya trails behind her like a loyal handmaiden. Carrying the heavy train of Sloane’s dress. Face plastered with that same fawning smile.
“Sloane, you look stunning! When the Kensington rep sees you, they’ll hand over the scholarship on the spot!” Maya wipes sweat from her own brow while gushing.
“Obviously.” Sloane lifts her chin. “My dad had dinner with a Kensington Corp executive. The spot’s already locked in.”
“Once I get into Columbia, maybe I’ll pull some strings and get you in as an auditor or something.”
Maya bows over and over, practically vibrating. “Thank you, Sloane! You’re literally my savior!”
Just as they’re basking in the envious stares of every student around them—a sleek black Maybach glides to a stop at the edge of the red carpet.
I push open the door. Step out in a pair of limited-edition heels.
Today, I’m not wearing a uniform.
Just a black velvet gown. Simple cut. But every stitch screams top-tier designer.
No dramatic makeup. But I carry the kind of presence that makes people step back without knowing why.
The second I reach the auditorium entrance, Maya spots me.
“Elara?!” She rushes over, arms spread wide to block my path.
“How did you get in here, you expelled psycho!”
She looks me up and down. Her eyes snag on the quality of my dress. Jealousy flickers—then she sneers.
“Ooh, what strip club did you work at to rent this knockoff? Showing up at the gala to embarrass yourself?”
“Let me guess—you’re here to beg the principal to let you back in?”
Sloane lifts her skirt and walks over too. She pinches her nose as I smell.
“Security! How are you letting just anyone in here? Today is the day the Kensington Corp representative arrives. If you disturb our honored guest, can you handle the consequences?”
The principal comes running over with a few security guards, red-faced and panting.
The second he sees me, he explodes: “Elara Kensington! You have the nerve to show up here? Get out! Now!”
“This is not a place for expelled delinquents to cause scenes!”
“Security—drag her out! If she ruins Sloane’s award ceremony, it’s your jobs on the line!”
The guards lunge toward me.
“Elara, just get lost already. You’re not even worth carrying our shoes!” Maya calls out from behind the principal, gloating.
I don’t move. I don’t flinch. I don’t even blink.
Then—four massive bodyguards in black appear from nowhere. They form a wall in front of me.
A few dull thuds.
The school guards don’t even see it coming. They hit the ground, groaning.
Dead silence.
Maya shrieks and hides behind Sloane.
The principal stares, jaw hanging open, finger shaking as he points at me:
“You… you brought thugs to a school event?! I’m calling the police! I’ll have you arrested!”
I gently push past my bodyguards. Walk right up to the principal. And smile.
“Principal. Weren’t you waiting for the highest representative from Kensington Corp?”
“That’s me.”
“Lead the way. The award ceremony can begin now.”
