Betrayed By My Best Friend I Revealed My Billionaire Heiress Identity Chapter 08
Chapter 8:Kneel
The words land. The auditorium entrance goes dead silent.
Then Richard Ashford is the first to burst out laughing.
“Ha! This is hilarious!” He waddles over, beer gut leading, and jabs a finger in my face.
“Kensington Corp’s representative? You? Do you have any idea how high that threshold is?”
“I’ve had drinks with Mr. Harrison from Kensington’s project division! He told me personally—today’s guest is a core member of the Kensington family!”
“You’ve completely lost it, kid!”
“Elara, you’re insane!” Maya piles on immediately. “You think renting some fake designer clothes and hiring a few actors as bodyguards makes you a Kensington? That’s called fraud!”
“Principal, call the police! Have her arrested!”
The principal is already pulling out his phone, certain I’ve lost my mind.
That’s when it happens.
A convoy of ten black Mercedes sedans rolls through the school gates in perfect formation. They stop at the end of the red carpet.
Every door opens simultaneously. Dozens of men and women in sharp suits step out. Each one wearing a Kensington Corp executive badge on their lapel.
Leading them all is Kensington Corp’s Chief of Staff—the untouchable “Mr. Harrison” that Richard Ashford has been bragging about.
The second Richard spots him, he scurries over like a dog who smelled a bone.
“Mr. Harrison! You’re finally here!”
“You won’t believe this—some expelled nutcase student is pretending to be your company’s representative. I was just about to call the cops on her!”
Sloane and Maya quickly smooth their outfits. Strike what they think are their most elegant poses. Ready to receive this powerful man’s approval.
But the moment Mr. Harrison sees me, the color drains from his face.
He shoves Richard aside so hard the man nearly eats concrete. Then he jogs—actually jogs—to stand before me.
“Miss Kensington! Traffic on the way. I’m late. Please forgive me!”
Behind him, every single Kensington Corp executive bows in unison. Their voices ring out like thunder:
“Good afternoon, Miss Kensington!”
The Ashfords freeze. The principal freezes.
Maya’s eyes go wide. Her lips move but the words barely come out:
“No… that’s impossible… Elara’s broke… she’s nobody…”
“Mr… Mr. Harrison, are you sure you have the right person?” Richard inches forward, voice trembling. “Her name is Elara Kensington. She’s just a poor kid who got expelled for fighting! How can she be—”
“Shut your mouth!” Mr. Harrison whips around. His eyes look at Richard like he’s staring at a dead man.
“Elara Kensington is the sole heiress of Kensington Corp. Dominic Kensington’s beloved younger sister!”
“And who the hell are you to speak to her that way?”
I don’t bother acknowledging Richard’s meltdown. I walk straight to Maya.
I look at that face—now white with terror—and let a mocking smile curl my lips.
“Maya. What was it you said? That I rented knockoffs?”
“So tell me. At this gala tonight—who’s the real clown?”
