Godmother To His Son Then I Took His Kingdom Chapter 14
The police stormed into the living room moments later.
The instant they put her in handcuffs, Evelyn lost control, shrieking as she kicked over the coffee table. “Why are you only arresting me? Graham confiscated their phones, too! He was an accomplice!”
Mr. and Mrs. Whitmore arrived just in time to hear it. As their lawyer quietly recounted the truth about the car accident, the miscarriage, and the ashes, Graham’s mother’s vision went black, and she collapsed.
Graham didn’t defend himself. He handed over his own phone records, the forged authorization, and the recordings to the police. He confessed to his role in withholding the phone and obstructing the initial investigation.
“I’ll answer for my part in it.”
After he gave his statement, his lawyer hurried over and pushed the DNA report toward him.
Result: Graham Whitmore is excluded as the biological father of Leo Cabot.
He stared at the line, his body rigid. The next second, he ripped the report to shreds and let out a raw, animalistic howl.
Eight years of lies. Every compromise, every favor. It had all been a joke.
At the same time, the front page of The Boston Globe exploded with the scandal. Whitmore Group stock plunged. The family trust committee convened an emergency meeting, stripped him of his role as chief trustee, and froze his inheritance rights.
Reputation, status, family—he lost it all in a day.
Sitting in the sterile corridor of the police station, Graham had only one thought left: find Mara. Find her and say just one thing.
I’m sorry.
When he learned she had gone to Santa Fe, he liquidated what remained of his personal assets and called his assistant.
“Get the plane ready. We’re going to Santa Fe.”
