He Asked For Space I Left With His Baby Chapter 10
The groom smiled at Mia. “And one more thing. I never want you to worry that you’re bothering me. If something makes you laugh, I want to hear it. If something scares you, I want to know about it. No matter how small it seems, I want to be the first person you think of.”
Applause swept through the room.
Across the crowd, I saw Roman.
He was standing alone near the back of the ballroom, watching the newlyweds.
As if he could feel my stare, he turned.
Our eyes met.
Once, a single glance from him was enough to make my heart race.
This time, I felt nothing at all.
After the ceremony, I changed out of my bridesmaid dress and went to join the reception.
There had been some last-minute changes to the seating chart, and my place card was missing.
A little flower girl slipped her hand into mine. “I think you’re sitting over here.”
She led me to a table in the corner.
It was filled almost entirely with children, except for one very out-of-place adult.
He looked up. Silver-blond hair, wire-rimmed glasses, and a perfectly tailored, ridiculously expensive suit.
He looked less like a wedding guest and more like he’d just walked out of a magazine ad.
We stared at each other in surprise.
“You…” He sighed. “Don’t tell me my mother’s cousin knows your family, too.”
I laughed. “It really is a small world.”
Ethan adjusted his glasses. “I only came because my mother wouldn’t stop asking when I was getting married. Showing up alone seemed easier than arguing.”
“That’s more relatable than I expected.” I paused. “So, is there still a chance I can get that fake-date bonus?”
The corner of his mouth curved. “Too late. My mother already gave me the lecture.”
I couldn’t hide my disappointment.
He let out a soft laugh. “Don’t worry. There’s always another family wedding. My relatives treat getting married like a competitive sport.”
I laughed with him.
