He Chose Her On Our Wedding Night So I Took Everything Chapter 35

One year after the showroom opened, our brand entered several department stores in Europe.

As planned, I flew over myself to oversee the displays, gather fabric feedback, and confirm the orders for the next season.

Wyatt didn’t ask when I was coming back, or if we were getting married.

Before I left, he only said, “If you want me there, I can arrange my work on that side.”

“And if I want to go by myself?”

“Then I’ll wait for you here.”

I didn’t ask him to come until the final month of my trip.

When he arrived in Paris, he brought only a briefcase and a box of cinnamon rolls that had been thoroughly crushed in his luggage.

“They don’t have your favorite bakery here.”

He set the mangled box on the hotel table.

“So I brought these from Los Angeles.”

I opened it and looked inside.

The frosting was smeared all over the lid.

“Mr. Winslow, this may be the highest-risk transport operation you’ve ever undertaken.”

“I’ll do better next time.”

We walked along the Seine for a long time.

He told me a few stories from the firm, then asked about my plans for the new stores. He did not, at any point, produce a ring.

Just before we got back to the hotel, I stopped walking.

“Wyatt, do you still want to get married someday?”

He clearly hadn’t expected me to be the one to ask.

“Yes.”

“But not because it has to happen right now.”

“Why not?”

“Because I want to marry you. Not because I want a marriage to define my life.”
