He Chose His Ex So I Chose My Empire Chapter 23

He Chose His Ex So I Chose My Empire Chapter 23

“I hate him.”

I looked at Liam and said the words slowly.

“And I hate you.”

“He was the grandfather I respected most in the world, and he treated me like a lab rat.”

“And you. I thought you were my husband, the one person I could trust, but you were just a part of his game.”

“You both watched as I doubted myself, as I started to believe I really was inferior to Serena, that I really was unworthy of being loved.”

“Elara…” The plea in Liam’s eyes was unmistakable. “I always wanted to be on your side. Can’t you give me one more chance?”

I pushed the divorce agreement, already signed by me, back across the table to him.

“Sign it.”

This time, he was silent for a long time.

In the end, he signed his name.

I received the shares stipulated in our prenuptial agreement, then boarded a flight to Geneva.

At the lakeside estate, I saw my mother for the first time in months.

She hugged me and didn’t ask a single question about Liam.

“A broken heart isn’t the end of the world.”

She poured me a cup of hot tea.

“You can start over.”

She looked at me, her gaze steady.

“I know you stayed in New York all these years to prove yourself to your grandfather.”

“If I had known you would be hurt like this, I never would have agreed to his absurd test.”

My hand paused on my teacup.

My mother took my hand, her smile gentle.

“But now, love or no love, it doesn’t matter.”

She looked me in the eye. “What matters is the Vance family trust.”

“I’ve already activated the inheritance clause for you. The trust is yours now.”
