He Left Our Daughter To Drown But I Saved The Footage Chapter 08
Brooke looked at me, her eyes red-rimmed.
“Claire, I know you hate me, but the children are innocent. Sadie doesn’t have a father. She just looks up to Evan as a father figure.”
“A father figure?”
I cut her off.
“Does a father figure get a married man to drain his family’s emergency fund to book a hotel suite for you in another state?”
I held up the confirmation email my lawyer had just forwarded.
An Atlanta family suite. The charge was first put on Evan’s credit card, then reimbursed from the emergency fund. The guest list was clear: Evan, Brooke, and Sadie.
Brooke’s face went pale.
Evan frowned, trying to explain.
“The situation was urgent. It was easier to look after them if we all stayed together.”
“And what about this?”
I pulled up a screenshot from our family’s Google Calendar.
A week before the hurricane, an entry for “Family Weekend” had been edited. The new title was “Soccer Team Emergency Meeting.” The change had been made by Brooke’s account.
But Evan hadn’t been with the team that day.
He had taken Sadie to an amusement park.
Evan stared at the account name on the screen, then whipped his head toward Brooke.
“You changed that?”
Brooke immediately started shaking her head.
“You shared the calendar with me once to add a game schedule. You must have forgotten to remove my access…”
“I asked you to add one game.”
Evan’s expression turned dark.
“Why did you have editing access to my family calendar?”
