He Left Our Daughter To Drown But I Saved The Footage Chapter 14

The lawyer turned to the last page of the file.

Sadie and Maisie had once attended the same soccer camp. On Sadie’s enrollment form, Evan was listed as the primary emergency contact.

“We spoke to Brooke’s ex-husband,” the lawyer said. “The moment he heard Evan’s name, he was furious. Apparently, six months ago, Evan kept calling him, asking about Sadie’s paternity.”

The ex-husband had made himself perfectly clear at the time.

“I got a secret DNA test. Sadie isn’t my daughter—but she’s damn sure not yours, either.”

Six months ago.

That was when Evan had started making the large transfers.

It meant he had known all along that Sadie wasn’t his biological daughter. Yet he had still emptied his own child’s emergency fund to support them.

The lawyer closed the file and looked at me.

“Your husband appears to have thrown himself headfirst into a fantasy he desperately wanted to be true.”

Before the formal mediation began, Evan voluntarily admitted that he was the one who had requested the paternity test.
