He Scorned My Love Now He Watches My Rise Chapter 05
Colton stared at the signature on the contract, motionless.
Bianca reached for it.
“Enough. Stop looking at that. She’s just doing this to get to you.”
Colton pressed a hand over the contract and looked up at her.
“Doing what?”
“Flying away. Cross-territory flights always have layovers. She’s probably sitting at the connecting airport right now, waiting.”
Bianca folded her arms, her certainty absolute.
“She knows you’ll panic when you see the contract. The second you go after her, she wins. This is even smarter than canceling the claim ceremony.”
The others nodded in agreement.
“Bianca’s right.”
“If she were really going to stay away for three years, she wouldn’t have just left like that. What about her family, her old pack?”
“Colt, hold your ground. Don’t be the first one to go after her. Whoever moves first, loses.”
Colton said nothing.
He glanced at his phone.
My flight had already been in the air for two hours.
The group started a new round of betting.
Some bet I would turn back during my layover. Others said I would reach out as soon as I landed.
Bianca put down ten thousand dollars.
“She’ll contact Colt by tonight, at the latest.”
Colton sat back on the sofa and laid his phone face-down on the table.
“Then we wait.”
But over the next three hours, no one seemed to have the heart to drink.
Every few minutes, Colton would flip his phone over and check it.
No missed calls.
No new messages.
At one in the morning, my flight landed at the connecting airport.
Bianca checked the flight information and laughed again.
“What’s the rush? The next flight back to Gray Harbor leaves in forty minutes. She’s just waiting for you to call.”
