He Scorned My Love Now He Watches My Rise Chapter 08
Bianca’s voice came through from his end of the line.
“Colt, put it on speaker. Let her talk. Don’t let her lead you around.”
I closed my eyes.
Of course she was still there.
Colton didn’t turn on the speaker, but he didn’t tell her to shut up, either.
Bianca raised her voice.
“If she really didn’t want to come back, why would she answer the phone? She’s waiting for you to use your Alpha authority and order her back.”
I hung up.
Colton called again. I didn’t answer.
He tried three different numbers.
I blocked every one.
Finally, my director sent me a message.
[Colton Moretti contacted me asking when your overseas assignment ends.]
I replied: [I will complete the contract as written and will not terminate it early. Please do not provide him with any information.]
Back at the club in Gray Harbor, Colton stared at the disconnected call, his expression dark.
Bianca was still smiling.
“See? She answered, which means she still has feelings for you. That attitude was just to make you anxious.”
Colton looked up at her.
“She blocked me.”
“That was on purpose, too.”
“She settled every last penny.”
“Also for show.”
“She went to another pack’s territory.”
“She’ll come back.”
Colton gave a sudden, harsh laugh.
“Bianca, what exactly would she have to do for you to believe she genuinely doesn’t want me anymore?”
Bianca opened her mouth.
The others lowered their heads. No one answered.
At that moment, his assistant walked in, carrying two old documents.
“Mr. Moretti, these are Siobhan’s two previous overseas assignment applications.”
Colton took them.
Both applications had been approved.
The reason for withdrawal on each was the same.
*Canceled due to personal arrangements.*
Colton’s brow furrowed.
“Why did she withdraw?”
The assistant hesitated.
“The first time, you had a stomach bleed and were admitted to the Nightfall pack clinic. She stayed to take care of you.”
“And the second time?”
“You told her you wouldn’t do a long-distance relationship across territories.”
Colton stared at the two sheets of paper, his face slowly going pale.
