He Tested Me With Prenup I Left Him With Regret Chapter 06

The moment I set the phone down, Grant called again.

I answered, but the first voice I heard was Celeste’s.

“Don’t rush her. She just wants to play hard to get. She’s waiting for you to cave first.”

So she was still right there beside him, still coaching him on how to interpret my every move.

I hung up immediately and blocked the number.

A few minutes later, Grant called from his assistant’s phone.

“Maya, you can’t—”

I hung up again and blocked that number, too.

Then I sent my lawyer a message.

[Please inform Mr. Holloway that if he contacts me again through any channel, I will apply for a restraining order.]

Back at the Charleston club, Grant stared at the disconnected call, his face a mask of anger.

Celeste still refused to take it seriously.

“See? This is all part of her script. She wants you losing your mind over her.”

Grant let out a sharp laugh.

“So how far would she have to go before it stopped being an act?”

Celeste froze.

“Move a thousand miles away? Sign a non-refundable lease? Throw twenty-four thousand dollars back in my face? File for a restraining order?”

The whole table fell silent.

At that moment, his assistant walked in carrying a tablet.

“Mr. Holloway, the old emails from the company server were recovered.”

On the screen was the email trail between me and the University of Chicago.

Two deferral requests, one year apart.

Grant stared at the dates. “Why did she defer?”

The assistant opened the first one.

[Lucy has been emotionally unstable lately, and I need to stay to support her. I am requesting to postpone my enrollment.]

Grant’s fingers stiffened on the edge of the screen.

“And the second?”

The assistant hesitated, then opened the next email.

[My fiancé has made it clear that he cannot accept a long-distance relationship at this stage, so I have no choice but to request another deferral.]

Grant watched the screen, the color draining from his face.
