He Tested Me With Prenup I Left Him With Regret Chapter 09

Celeste’s lips trembled, and then she gave a harsh laugh.

“Status. She wasted four years because she wanted to be Mrs. Holloway. Now that that dream is dead, she’s lashing out.”

“The wedding invitations were already printed,” Grant said, staring at her. “And she paid the venue deposit herself. If she had stayed, in six weeks she would have had the status you keep talking about. But she walked away.”

Celeste opened her mouth, but no words came out.

Someone beside her muttered, “Didn’t you say in the group chat that if Maya really left, you’d livestream an apology?”

Celeste whipped around. “Shut up!”

The instant the words left her mouth, every phone on the table began to vibrate.

A distant relative Celeste had once pushed out of the family circle had just sent the full chat history from “Second Wife Playbook” to the entire family group.

Screenshots started flooding in.

“The bracelet is in my car. Don’t tell Grant yet. Let him search Maya’s luggage first and see if she panics.”

The next image was a transfer record showing Grant paying Celeste’s apartment HOA fees. Right next to it was a voice message of her sneering, “A woman like Maya catches the scent of money and just can’t walk away.”

Further down were messages of her urging people to deliberately hide Lucy’s allergy restrictions.

“Let her make a few extra hospital runs. It’s a good way to test her patience. If she wants to be a stepmother, she has to pass.”

The same people who had defended Celeste just moments earlier began lowering their phones, edging away as if she were contaminated.

Celeste lunged for Grant’s phone. “Those were jokes! They took them out of context—”

Grant moved the phone out of her reach and held the screen up in front of her.
