He Tested Me With Prenup I Left Him With Regret Chapter 08

“And the second deferral?” Grant fixed his eyes on Celeste. “Was that when you told me she only applied to an out-of-state program to force me to propose?”

Celeste tightened her grip on her glass. “That was just a well-intentioned guess.”

“Every malicious accusation you make is ‘well-intentioned’?”

Dead silence settled over the table.

Grant turned to the friends and relatives around him.

“When Maya missed that certification exam, you all said she was trying to win sympathy and gifts. When she paid out of pocket for the best allergy specialist for Lucy, you said she was making a smart investment in a future stepdaughter.”

His voice sank lower.

“For four years, this so-called inheritance hunter you all created—what, exactly, did she ever hunt from me?”

No one answered.

Grant pointed to his cousin. “Did she ever ask me to buy her a car?”

“No.”

“Did she ever ask to have her name added to a property deed?”

“No.”

“Did I ever give her an unlimited black card?”

His cousin’s face stiffened. His voice dropped. “No. She always used her own credit card… it had a very low limit.”

Grant’s gaze swept over everyone.

“No car. No house. None of the luxury life you all accused her of chasing. And still, with just a few words, you put her on trial for four years.”

No one dared to look up.

Then he slowly turned, his icy eyes landing on Celeste’s pale face.
