His Fake Proposal Led Me To My Real Husband Chapter 32
In his apology, he admitted the video had been deliberately edited.
He also admitted the fake proposal and secret recording had both been planned in the group chat long before they happened.
At the end, he shifted the blame back to Mason one last time.
*I was wrong, but the first person who told us we could humiliate Rebecca was Mason.*
Mason didn’t respond.
The next day, he went to the lawyer’s office by himself.
I didn’t go.
In his written statement, he confirmed every fact in the recording, the screenshots, and Tyler’s apology.
He also agreed not to wait for me again at my office, my home, or my mother’s house.
The lawyer asked if he needed time to consider it.
Mason said, “No.”
“One more thing.”
He left a small envelope on the table.
“Please give this to Rebecca.”
That evening, the envelope was delivered to me.
Inside was the earring I had lost on our first date.
There was also a note.
*I kept it all this time because I thought as long as the object was here, you would come back, too.*
*Now I know that keeping one earring has nothing to do with keeping a person.*
At the end, a patch of ink had run, as if from a tear.
Julian stood at the kitchen island, chopping onions.
When he saw the envelope, he asked, “Do you want me to step out?”
“No.”
I folded the note back up.
“Aren’t you curious what he wrote?”
“I am.”
“Then why don’t you ask?”
He slid the chopped onions into a hot pan.
“It was written to you. If you want to tell me, I’ll listen.”
I walked over and placed the earring in his palm.
“Hold this for me.”
He looked down at it.
“What do you want to do with it?”
I thought for a moment.
“Take it to the jeweler tomorrow. Since the other one is missing, maybe it can be melted down and made into something else.”
Julian asked, “Into what?”
The butter in the pan began to sizzle.
I picked up a spoon and stirred the onions.
“I don’t know yet.”
“First, I just want it to stop being what it used to be.”Â
