His Fake Proposal Led Me To My Real Husband Chapter 33
The jewelry store said one earring could only be made into something very small.
The clerk asked if I wanted to replace the missing one and restore the pair.
“No.”
“A pendant, then?”

In the end, I had her melt the metal down into a tiny, thin leaf.
No name engraved. No date.
Just a light sliver of metal resting in my palm.
I gave it to my mother.
She pinched the little leaf between her fingers, unsure if she should take it.
“This is something Mason returned to you.”
“Not anymore.”
“Then why give it to me?”

“It was never your fault.”
My mother lowered her head and looked at it for a long time.
“Becca, I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize anymore.”
She looked up, her eyes a little red.
“But I always told you to just endure it.”
“You don’t anymore.”
She smiled, wiping away her tears with the back of her hand.
“That’s right. From now on, if anyone bullies you, I’ll be the first one to yell back.”
“Including Julian?”
“Especially Julian.”
A dry cough sounded from the kitchen doorway.
Julian was standing there with a bag of fruit.
“Am I interrupting something?”Â
