His Lesson Killed My Mother Now He Will Pay Chapter 37

At the appeal hearing, Vivian was subpoenaed to testify.

Sloane stared at her from the witness stand, her voice trembling. “More than once, you told me Nora didn’t deserve to marry into the Vale family, and you told me to convince Graham to keep her under control. Now something terrible happens, and you throw me out to take the fall!”

“I never—”

“The witness will answer the question,” the judge cut in.

Sloane burst into tears. “Graham signed every plan. I was only carrying them out!”

Then her attorney turned to Graham.

“Could Ms. Mercer have obtained Nora’s private recordings without your involvement?”

“No.”

“Could she have canceled the evacuation vehicle on her own?”

“No.”

Relief flashed in Sloane’s eyes.

Then Aisha stood. “And who gave the additional instruction that the platform must not allow Nora to rebook?”

The customer service recording was played again.

Sloane’s calm voice filled the chamber:

“Don’t notify Nora. No rebooking. This is part of treatment.”

The look of relief froze on her face.

Then the recording of her saying *tragedy spreads faster*, along with the office footage of her faking the injury, was admitted as evidence.

At last, Graham lifted his head.

“Canceling the vehicle required my approval,” he said hoarsely. “But that doesn’t absolve her of responsibility. She knew the consequences, and she proactively blocked any path to rebooking.”

Sloane shot him a murderous look, but she had no evidence left to save herself.

The judge rejected the appeal from the bench, and the high damages award moved into enforcement.

Vivian sat in silence.

Sloane collapsed into her chair.

And Graham lowered his head once more at the defense table.
