His Lesson Killed My Mother Now He Will Pay Chapter 38

Three days after the appeal was denied, Aisha slid the asset enforcement inventory across the table to me.

Sloane’s podcast earnings, brand accounts, and property had all been frozen. On the third page, I saw a familiar address.

The luxury apartment that had once been in my name.

Three years earlier, I had signed the transfer papers myself, handing it over to Sloane.

Now, it was listed for judicial auction to compensate the seven victims in the class-action suit, myself included.

Aisha tapped the bottom of the page.

“The proceeds will be distributed according to the judgment. You can claim your share, or you can waive it.”

I picked up the pen and signed the application.

“I’m claiming it.”

The moment I walked out of the enforcement office, Sloane rushed at me from the end of the hall.

“What right do you have to touch my apartment?”

Her makeup was immaculate, but her voice was shrill.

“Graham gave that to me. It was a gift, and gifts are protected property! You don’t get to take back something that was given away just because you regret it!”

I stopped.

“I’m not trying to get the apartment back.”

She froze, then her jaw tightened. “Then why are you claiming a share of the auction? Because you can’t stand that it ended up with me?”

“The title was in your name. Whether it gets auctioned is up to the court.”

I closed the enforcement notice and looked at her.

“And what I’m claiming isn’t the return of a gift.”

“It’s the legal price you owe for my mother’s death.”

The color drained from Sloane’s face.

She tried to lunge again, but court officers stepped between us, caught her by the arms, and warned her to back away.

At that moment, Graham walked out of the enforcement office.

Sloane rounded on him.

“Happy now?” she shrieked.

“My show is gone, my accounts are frozen, and now they’re selling my apartment. You finally got to dump every last bit of blame on me, didn’t you?”

Graham walked past her without a word.

“I just stopped lying for you,” he said, not even breaking his stride.
