His Number Changed So I Changed My Life Chapter 06
My head was still spinning from the impact.
Before I could fully recover, I heard two familiar voices outside the car.
Austin started to open his door, but his hand froze on the handle.
“Parker, what do we do?” Madison’s voice was shaking. “I just got my license, I only wanted to take you for a drive. I can’t have the tabloids splashing this all over the internet for a week.”
Parker murmured a few words to comfort her, then walked over to our car.
The rear windows of the SUV were heavily tinted. He couldn’t see me in the back seat.
He knocked twice on the driver’s side window.
“No pictures, no police, no insurance. I’ll pay for the damages out of pocket.”
I looked at him through the glass.
Minutes ago, this man had been texting me about making our marriage public.
Now, he was trying to cover up an accident for another woman, pressuring a stranger into silence to protect her.
The concern he’d shown me these past few days was probably nothing more than guilt.
There was no response from inside the car. Assuming the driver wasn’t satisfied, he knocked again.
“If the repair costs aren’t enough, I’ll buy you a new car. That’s more than fair.”
His tone turned colder.
“Don’t try to extort me just because you know who I am.”
I pressed the button for the window.
As the glass slid down, the impatience on his face dissolved, and all the color drained from his skin.
“Parker.”
I looked him in the eye.
“Let’s get a divorce.”
