I Saved His Daughter And The Mafia Boss Won’t Let Me Leave Chapter 08
The second Roman gives the word, I move.
First guy comes swinging. I duck under his fist and kick out the back of his knee. He drops.
Second one tries to grab me from behind. I catch his arm and throw him. He flies a good five feet before he hits the ground.
Three minutes. All of them are laid out on the floor, groaning.
I step over the last one, slip my heels back on, and walk up to Sandra.
“Apologize.”
She’s shaking, but her mouth still won’t quit.
“I’m not apologizing! You wanna hit me? Go ahead! Do it!”
“I’ll drag you to court! I’ll have you thrown in jail so fast you won’t know what hit you!”
I clench my fist, but behind me Roman is already on the phone. One call. He doesn’t even raise his voice.
“Every contract with Brennan Construction. Kill them. All of them.”
“And every donation they’ve made to this school. I want a full audit.”
Sandra’s husband collapses. Literally drops to both knees in the middle of the hallway, grabbing at Roman’s wheelchair.
“Mr. Ashford! She’s stupid, she runs her mouth, she doesn’t mean any of it! Please, just give us one more chance!”
Sandra rolls her eyes.
“Oh get off the floor, Greg. You’re pathetic.”
She turns to Roman, still smirking.
“Who over there even listens to you anymore? Your uncle signed our deal. You think you can undo that from a wheelchair?”
Her phone rings.
She checks the screen, grins, and picks up. “Tommy! Perfect timing, listen—”
Her brother’s voice blasts through the speaker. Everyone can hear it.
“SANDRA! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?”
“The Ashfords just killed the deal! All of it! And they’re launching an investigation into our materials. They’re saying we faked the data!”
Her face goes white. “That’s not — no, Uncle Nathan signed that contract himself, they can’t just—”
“UNCLE NATHAN JUST CALLED ME HIMSELF! Said you pissed off the wrong person and now even he can’t protect us! We’re done, Sandra! DONE!”
Then Greg’s phone buzzes. He looks at the screen and goes gray.
“Brennan Construction… we’ve been blacklisted. It’s over.”
Sandra stumbles backward. She stares at Roman like she’s seeing him for the first time.
“You… you’re supposed to be finished. Everyone said—”
Roman doesn’t blink.
“I asked my uncle to hold things down while I healed. That’s it.”
His head tilts just slightly.
“So where’d you get the idea that I’d lost control?”
Greg is flat on the floor now, forehead against the tile.
“Mr. Ashford, she’s got no brain, I swear to God, she’s an idiot. We’ll apologize. We’ll do anything. Please. I’m begging you.”
Sandra’s mouth opens one more time. “All this because I called some little mute—”
I grab her jaw again. Tighter this time. She chokes.
“Say one more word. I dare you. I will break your jaw.”
She’s sobbing now. Mascara running everywhere. She finally turns to Lily.
“S-sorry!”
I squeeze. “Louder.”
“LILY ASHFORD, I’M SORRY!”
“I shouldn’t have said any of that and I shouldn’t have let my son bully you!”
Lily is still trembling in Roman’s arms. But she’s watching.
I shove Sandra backward so hard she crashes into Greg. Then I hold out my arms.
Lily falls right into them.
“Mommy…”
I stroke her hair.
“It’s okay, baby. Mommy and Daddy are right here. Nobody’s ever gonna talk to you like that again.”
Roman turns to the principal. Calm voice. Which means deadly.
“Starting today. No Brennan sets foot on this campus. Not as a parent. Not as a donor. Nothing.”
“Their son is done here too.”
“If that changes, I pull every dollar from your entire education group.”
The principal practically trips over himself nodding. “Absolutely, Mr. Ashford. Consider it handled.”
Greg scrambles to his feet, desperate. “Mr. Ashford, please. Our son is just a boy. He’s innocent in all this—”
Roman looks at him.
“Your kid acts like that because you raised him like that. Blame yourself.”
