I Survived His Enemies But Not His Love For Another Woman Chapter 06
[Dominic’s POV]
His eyes sweep over the men kneeling on the ground. Shaking. Bleeding. Pathetic.
He doesn’t explode. Not yet. He walks toward them slowly. One step at a time. Calm. That’s the scariest part.
“B-Boss.” They can barely talk. One of them has pissed himself.
I crouch down. Get real close. My voice comes out low. Barely a whisper.
“Who told you it was okay to do that to her?”
“It was… it was Miss Loren. She told us to give Miss Valentino a proper welcome.”
“A proper welcome.” I repeat it softly. Tasting the words.
Then I stand up and stomp my heel down on the nearest man’s wrist.
The bone snaps like a dry branch. He screams like a pig in a slaughterhouse.
I grind my shoe down. Slow. Deliberate.
“Since when does Mia Loren give orders in my house? Since when do you take commands from that bitch?”
I lift my head. Let my eyes drag across every single face in the room.
“Who touched her. Names. Now.”
Nobody speaks. Just the sound of men trying not to breathe.
“No volunteers?” I smile. It feels like cracking ice. “Fine. You’re all guilty.”
I pull out my phone. One number. One call.
“Get a crew to the west side warehouse. Clean it out.”
“Everyone on the ground in here. Every last one.” I pause. Let them hear what’s coming. “Break their hands. Break their legs. Dump them in the Atlantic.”
The screaming starts immediately. Begging. Crying. I don’t hear any of it.
I walk to the dark stain on the concrete floor. Crouch down. Reach out with my scarred hand, the one that’s shaking so bad I can’t control it, and touch the half-dried blood.
Cold. Sticky. My stomach lurches.
I have the body tested. DNA doesn’t match Sera’s.
But this blood on the floor. Some of it is hers.
The panic gets worse. Sharper. Like swallowing broken glass.
“What the hell happened to you? Where are you?”
That’s when I hear it. A soft, whimpering voice at the warehouse entrance.
“Dom? What are you doing here? The doctor said I need rest. Our engagement is tomorrow, remember? You have to come with me for the dress fitting.”
Mia. Standing in the doorway wearing a hospital gown under a fur coat that costs more than most people’s cars.
Bandages across her cheek. Looking small and wounded and innocent.
She takes in the scene. The blood. The men screaming on the floor. Something flickers in her eyes. Fear. Then she buries it under that helpless, pitiful mask.
I stand up slowly. Turn to face her.
And I look at her like she’s already dead.
She flinches. Forces a smile.
“Dom, why are you looking at me like that? We’re getting engaged tomorrow.”
“Engaged?” I cut her off. My voice is quiet. The kind of quiet that makes smart people run. “Who said anything about an engagement?”
The smile freezes on her face.
“Dom, what… what are you saying? Tomorrow is our engagement party. The invitations are already out.”
I walk toward her. Slow. Each step deliberate.
“Mia.” I stop right in front of her. Looking down. “I’m only gonna ask this once.”
“What did you do to Sera?”
She stumbles back a step. I can see the terror creeping in behind her eyes.
“I didn’t do anything! She’s the one who cut my face! Look at me, Dom! She tried to kill me!”
“So that’s how you want to play it.”
I grab her jaw. Squeeze until I feel the bone flex under my fingers. Until she’s crying and clawing at my wrist.
“Who played the video at the sit-down? Who told these animals in the warehouse what to do? Was it you?”
Tears streaming. Head shaking. Frantic.
“It wasn’t me! I swear! It was Sera! She set me up! She did all of this to frame me!”
I stare at her. Then I laugh. A cold, dead sound.
” Okay. Good.”
I let go. Pull a handkerchief from my pocket and wipe my fingers like I touched something rotten.
“I’m going to find out what really happened.”
“And Mia?” I lean in close. Put my lips right next to her ear. Whisper. “If I find proof that you hurt her. I will show you what real suffering looks like. The kind where you beg to die and nobody lets you.”
I don’t look at her face going white. I turn to my underboss who just walked in.
“Take her back. Lock her down. The engagement is off.”
“And I want every soldier, every contact, every favor we have out on the street looking for Sera. Turn this whole city inside out.”
“I want her found. Alive.” My throat closes around the next word. I can’t say it. Won’t say it. I just wave my hand, exhausted and vicious all at once.
“Find her. Now.”
