I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 44

A sudden roar of cheers erupted from the street below.

On the wedding broadcast, Mara lifted her own veil and waved to the crowd. Adrian’s face was thunderous, but she didn’t care in the least.

Rowan’s voice remained clear through the noise.

“I regret it.”

He admitted that his so-called recovery of memory had also been an act. He had deliberately let his head strike the vehicle to claim he had regained the past, all so he could openly look at me.

“I even thought that if I had to spend my whole life as Julian, that would be fine.”

Below, Adrian looked up and spotted Rowan at the window.

Rowan gave him a mocking smile.

Adrian tried to climb out of the car and storm the hotel, only for Mara to seize him by the ear and drag him back inside.

When Rowan turned to me again, his gaze was hopeful.

He had long since realized how much I despised Adrian. He had allowed Adrian’s power to grow only to expose the man’s ambitions—and so this marriage could tie the Stoneplain pack to Adrian and keep watch over him.

“Julian could solve your problems for you. I can, too.”

“I can give you a grander wedding. I can do it better than he ever could.”

Carefully, he took hold of the edge of my sleeve.

“Even if you only think of me as him for now… could you at least look at me?”
