I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 45
I shook off his hand.
“I will never treat anyone as someone else’s substitute.”
I wasn’t fooled by his apparent fragility.
“You turned me and Cedar Ridge into pawns. You publicly destroyed our engagement, let me endure the mockery of an entire kingdom, and used Adrian to strip Cedar Ridge of its council influence.”
“Martin hints at how hard your life has been, but your circumstances weren’t my fault. Everything Cedar Ridge and I suffered, however, was caused by you.”
“You didn’t want Cedar Ridge, but you wanted the daughter of the Cedar Ridge Alpha. You don’t get to have it both ways.”
It was the first time I had said his name.
“Rowan, since Julian’s death wasn’t your doing, I won’t expose you. Take care of yourself.”
As if he had expected this, he merely looked out at the wedding convoy below.
“Mara looks beautiful in a wedding dress. You would look even more beautiful.”
“I already made one wedding dress with my own hands. I won’t make a second.”
Jealousy instantly darkened his gaze.
The moment he sensed my wariness, he reined in his dangerous Alpha presence.
“I rarely compare myself to Julian. But sometimes, I truly envy him.”
He pointed at the unconscious informant.
“I won’t hide things from you anymore. Consider this a gesture of good faith.”
He plainly had not accepted my refusal.
I said nothing more and turned to leave.
