If Your Heart Doesn’t Lean Towards Me I Don’t Want It Chapter 10
A long time passed before he finally spoke, his voice raw.
“Coralie… I’m sorry…”
He took a step toward me, reaching out as if to pull me into an embrace.
“I’m so sorry. The baby is gone, but we can have another one. Later.”
“Let’s get married, Coralie. Even without a baby, I still want to marry you.”
“Let me make it up to you, please?”
I stepped back, avoiding his touch.
“Ellis, we are over.”
He grew agitated.
“No, we’re not!”
“So what if the baby’s gone? I told you, I don’t care! I’ll marry you anyway!”
It was suddenly, painfully absurd.
Even now, he thought this was just a tantrum.
He thought offering marriage was the ultimate comfort, the one thing that could fix this.
But I didn’t need it anymore.
I gathered my documents and the few things that mattered, then turned and walked out. Lucian was still waiting for me.
Ellis chased after me.
“Coralie, don’t go! We haven’t finished talking!”
But I was already in the elevator.
The doors slid shut just as he reached them.
By the time I reached the ground floor and stepped out of the building, I heard frantic footsteps behind me.
Ellis burst out of the stairwell, panting, his eyes a frightening red.
He blocked my path.
“Coralie, you are not leaving.”
“I never agreed to break up. This doesn’t count. You’ve taken this too far.”
At that moment, Lucian walked over, stopping just behind Ellis.
“Ellis Lombardi, let her go.”
“And show my fiancée some respect.”
