If Your Heart Doesn’t Lean Towards Me I Don’t Want It Chapter 36

If Your Heart Doesn’t Lean Towards Me I Don’t Want It Chapter 36

On the morning of the wedding, Lucian was up early.

When I woke, the makeup artist hadn’t arrived yet, but the smell of breakfast was already drifting from the kitchen.

I followed the scent.

Lucian was standing at the stove in a dress shirt, sleeves rolled to his elbows, plating fried eggs.

When he turned and saw me, his expression was one of mild helplessness.

“Why is the bride wandering around on her own?”

“I’m hungry.”

I reached for one of the eggs on the plate.

Lucian lifted a hand to stop me.

I froze.

The next second, he moved the fresh, hot egg to the side and replaced it with one that had cooled to the perfect temperature.

“That one’s too hot. This one’s for you.”

I stood there for a moment, then lowered my head and took a bite.

The taste was familiar and comforting.

Lucian looked a little nervous.

“Is it okay?”

I shook my head.

“It’s perfect.”

Sunlight streamed through the window into the quiet, warm kitchen.

I used to think love meant enduring more, waiting longer.

That if I were reasonable enough, one day the other person would finally see how much I’d been hurt.
