My Cruel Husband Let Me Die So I Married His Brother Chapter 12
“Daphne, now that the misunderstandings are cleared up… you don’t really love Dante, do you?”
“Leave him and marry me. Please?”
“The person you love is me. It’s always been me.”
Dante pulled out his gun.
I raised a hand to stop him.
“The day you switched those boxes was the day I stopped loving you.”
“I’m going to love Dante properly. I already gave you and Ava the chance to be together.”
“As for you, I’ve done all I can.”
I took Dante’s hand and turned to leave.
Behind me, Griffin’s voice trembled.
“Dante told you, didn’t he? He told you about the boxes because he wanted to keep us apart.”
“Daphne, don’t believe him. Please, just look back at me.”
I didn’t turn around.
There was no need.
Besides, Dante was still fuming.
“Alright, why are you still thinking about him?” I squeezed Dante’s hand. “It’s our life now. Didn’t you promise to take me to Sicily for our honeymoon? Are we still going?”
“Of course we are.”
Dante was still gritting his teeth, his anger unabated.
“He didn’t cherish what he had, and now he comes back begging? On what grounds?”
“One of these days, I’m going to deal with him for good.”
That night, Griffin stayed outside my door until dawn.
He kept begging me to forgive him, shouting until his voice was raw.
In the end, Dante got so annoyed he couldn’t sleep, so he pulled me out of bed and deliberately made sure Griffin could hear us through the door.
Outside, everything finally went quiet.
