My Cruel Husband Let Me Die So I Married His Brother Chapter 13

Early the next morning, when I opened the door, Griffin coughed up a mouthful of blood.

“Daphne, do you really have to hurt me like this?”

I pulled my scarf higher to cover the marks Dante had left on my neck.

“But you were the one who hurt me more.”

“Why do you always act like you’re the victim?”

Griffin looked at me, and a sudden understanding seemed to dawn on him. His face went white, and he sank to the floor.

“You remember the last time, too, don’t you?”

“Daphne, do you hate me?”

I looked at him calmly.

“If I still loved you, then I might hate you.”

“But I don’t.”

I lifted a hand and pointed to Ava, who was standing not far behind him.

“Wasn’t it for her that you hated me so much last time?”

“Now the person you wanted is by your side. You should treasure her.”

Griffin couldn’t say another word.

He had fought so hard, only to hold on to the wrong person—and lose the one who had truly loved him.

In the end, Griffin didn’t stay with Ava.

He had his men torture her until she lost her mind, then sent her to a psychiatric hospital outside the city.

That was very much like Griffin.

When he loved someone, he put them above all else.

When he didn’t, he was merciless.

While Dante and I were on our honeymoon, Griffin followed us in secret.

He never came close. He only watched from a distance and kept sending gifts to our hotel.

Dante finally couldn’t take it anymore. He dragged Griffin out and beat him savagely.

“I wasn’t bothering Daphne, was I?” Griffin was a bloody mess, but he still stared at me. “I just want to be good to her. You have no right to stop me. Maybe someday she’ll come back to me.”

“That choice was the family’s rule to begin with. If you have the guts, let’s compete fairly for once.”

Dante cursed him out.

“Why the hell would I compete with you?”

“She’s my wife.”
