My Fiancé Sent Me To Another Man On Our Wedding Day Chapter 13
His voice was hoarse. “When I went in, the person I saw was Margot. For three years, I thought it was her.”
Only then did I remember.
“I was in bed eight at first,” I explained. “But I was afraid you’d find me, so I asked the nurse to move me to a different room.”
Rafael went completely still.
After a long moment, he reached out and grabbed my wrist.
“Helena, I was wrong. So wrong.”
“Come with me. I’ll take you home. You should have married me. You never should have ended up with the Hawthornes.”
“Rafael, let go.” I shook him off. “I’m married now.”
“What’s done is done. You used to understand that better than anyone.”
“No, it’s not like that.” Rafael’s composure finally broke. “Helena, you were supposed to be my wife. I was confused, and I sent you to someone else. But if I take you away now, we can still fix this.”
“We can’t.” I cut him off. “I’m pregnant. My husband is wonderful to me. I’m not getting a divorce.”
He looked as if I had punched him.
His gaze slowly dropped to my stomach.
Only then did he seem to notice I was showing.
“That’s impossible.” His voice was thin. “Helena, your husband was supposed to be a ninety-year-old man. How could you be pregnant?”
“My husband isn’t old.”
“What did you say?”
I met his gaze directly.
“Rafael, my husband is young, and he treats me very well. I’m not suffering with him.”
Rafael looked like he couldn’t process it.
“Helena, have you lost your mind?”
He reached for me again.
“You’re coming with me. I don’t care how this baby happened—I’m not letting you stay with the Hawthornes.”
A cold male voice cut through the air.
“Let her go.”
