My Fiancé Swapped Places With His Twin At The Altar Chapter 17

From that day on, Alessio took me with him to the office.

I sat in a corner of his office, reading.

Financial structures, project assessments, meeting minutes, risk control—I learned them one by one.

Sometimes I studied so late that I fell asleep with my head on the desk.

Whenever I woke, there would be a cashmere blanket draped over me and a cup of warm milk on the table.

Alessio never rushed me.

I asked him, “Aren’t you afraid I won’t be able to learn?”

He kept reading his documents, not even looking up.

“What would I be afraid of?”

“That I’m wasting your time.”

He set down his pen and looked at me.

“Bianca, you’re not wasting my time.”

“You’re taking back what was stolen from you.”

For a moment, I couldn’t speak.

In the past, I had always felt that apart from resentment, I had nothing.

I couldn’t charm people the way Ashley did, and I couldn’t handle business the way my brother could.

And I certainly didn’t have the kind of confidence Matteo had, the kind that came from a lifetime of being favored.

But Alessio told me I could learn.

I could go slowly. I could start from the beginning.
