My Husband Asked For A Divorce On His Retirement Day—So I Revealed My 30-Year Secret Chapter 14
“Don’t shortchange yourself. Life is too short.”
“Find someone who understands you and go see the world together.”
“Retirement isn’t the end. It’s the beginning of a new romance.”
Each post was liked by a different man.
There were also financial records. Griffin wasn’t the only one. There was a retired teacher named Davis and a restaurant owner named Miller.
All three men had purchased membership packages from the Silver Horizons Club, with amounts ranging from fifty to two hundred thousand dollars.
Amanda had received a referral commission for each one.
Part of Griffin’s retirement funds had already been transferred into that account.
The contract terms were beautifully written. No refunds for acts of God. No refunds for itinerary changes. If a client canceled for personal reasons, only ten percent would be refunded.
Griffin held the file, his hands shaking. “Amanda, what the hell is this?”
Her eyes reddened. “Griffin, don’t listen to them. They’re trying to slander me. I’m a project consultant. Referring clients is part of my job. What I feel for you is real.”
Jessica smiled faintly. “Ms. Amanda, you said the same thing to Mr. Davis last month.”
She tapped her phone, and a recording played. A woman’s soft voice filled the room.
“David, I’m really not after your money. I just think your family held you back for too long. You deserve to live for yourself, just once.”
The line was horribly familiar. Everyone in the room recognized it.
The color drained from Griffin’s face, leaving it ashen.
Amanda lunged forward, trying to grab the phone. “Turn it off! That’s an invasion of my privacy!”
“If necessary, the source of this recording can be submitted in court,” Jessica said coolly. “Today, we are merely presenting it to remind Mr. Ricci of the risks associated with his contract.”
Amanda’s mask of gentle sympathy finally cracked.
