My Mother’s Perfect AI Lied And Left Me For Dead Chapter 06
My face was no longer the color of the living.
Gray-blue lividity spread from my neck down beneath my collar. My cracked lips had turned dark purple, and a dried black streak of blood marked the corner of my mouth.
That was from yesterday, when the pain in my chest had stolen my breath and I’d bitten through my lip.
My brow was still furrowed, my face still holding the agony of my last moments.
The sight plunged the garage into a sudden, horrified silence.
A young woman screamed.
“She’s dead!”
Her legs gave out, and the person beside her had to catch her.
Everyone else scrambled back. Some covered their mouths. Some staggered to the wall and threw up. The stench of decay and the corpse in front of them sent the garage into chaos.
Mrs. Ramirez looked at my stiff face, and tears streamed from her eyes. She pointed at Mom, her hand shaking.
“You left your own daughter in that car. She was already dead, and you were still screaming at her.”
Mom stood frozen, staring at my face.
“That’s impossible.”
Her lips trembled, her voice so soft it was almost a whisper.
“That’s impossible.”
She still wanted to say I was acting, wanted to say this was all fake. But my skin, the lividity, and the rigor setting into my limbs were all telling her the same thing.
I really was dead.
Two officers pulled her away from the car.
The EMTs carefully transferred my body onto an isolation sheet. My joints had already stiffened, locking my limbs in that curled position.
Mom suddenly started struggling.
“She isn’t dead! She’s lying to all of you!”
“She’s faked being sick for attention since she was little! Let me go! If I just slap her, she’ll wake up!”
She tried to lunge at me, but the officers held her fast.
The lead officer called the county medical examiner’s office to report the unnatural death of a minor and ordered the vehicle and surveillance footage to be preserved as evidence.
