My Racer Chose Her So I Canceled Our Wedding Chapter 05
The Wedding Is Off
He stared at the message for several seconds.
His co-driver leaned closer.
“Is that some kind of prank?”
He finally looked up at me, and the shock in his eyes quickly turned into contempt.
“You think this is going to scare me?”
His mouth curled into a mocking smile.
“If the wedding were really canceled, you’d be the one begging me to marry you.”
I felt nothing.
No anger.
No disappointment.
I just wanted to leave.
He turned toward the door.
“I expect your apology video online tonight.”
Then the two of them left together.
Half an hour later, I dragged my suitcase out of the apartment and headed for the airport.
I bought the first available flight out of the city.
As the plane accelerated down the runway and lifted into the night sky, I looked out the window.
For five years, I had wanted one place beside him.
Now I finally understood.
I didn’t need his passenger seat.
I needed a life that was mine.
Meanwhile, he accompanied his co-driver to the testing center.
Before the sample was taken, she hesitated.
“Can’t you make her clear everything up now? Then maybe I won’t need another test.”
She lowered her voice.
“And it’s already been hours. What if that affects the result?”
He shook his head.
“Not yet.”
“If she posts now, I can’t protect her from the backlash. I’ll make her do it when I get home. I’ll announce our relationship at the same time. Once people know she’s my fiancée, they should back off.”
Her expression changed.
Before she could argue, a staff member came over.
“There you are. We’ve been waiting for you.”
She followed the staff member in for testing.
When it was over, she looked pale and distracted.
He assumed she was simply exhausted and drove her home.
At nine that night, he returned to our apartment.
Every light was off.
The uneasiness he had been trying to ignore grew stronger.
“Stop pretending you’re asleep. You still need to deal with what you did.”
Silence.
He switched on the lights.
The entire room was empty.
He searched the entire apartment.
Then he noticed the pile in the corner.
The matching things we had once bought together were still there.
But everything that belonged only to me was gone.
He froze.
His eyes slowly moved back to the cancellation message on his phone.
For the first time, he realized I hadn’t been trying to scare him.
I had really left.
