Reborn Before My Captain Fiancé’s Beloved Dies In A Plane Crash Chapter 18

Could he remember the last life, too?

Mr. Bellini didn’t notice my reaction and continued.

“From that day on, he got worse.”

“He dug out everything in the house connected to you—photos, cards, gifts, and would just hold them, looking through them over and over.”

“One minute he’d be crying, the next he’d be laughing, always repeating the same things.”

“He’d say, ‘Why was I so stupid? Why did I hurt her? It was never her fault.'”

“He also kept saying, ‘Why did I remember so late…?'”

By then, Mr. Bellini couldn’t go on.

Mrs. Bellini took over.

“We tried to take him to a psychiatrist. On the way there, he jumped out of the car and ran.”

He really did remember.

“And then?”

My voice was calmer than I expected.

Mrs. Bellini’s eyes reddened.

“We found him kneeling in front of your child’s grave.”

“He was clutching that shattered crystal chip.”

“His palm was slick with blood, but he wouldn’t let it go.”

Wind rustled through the cemetery, the sound of leaves whispering past my ears.

Mrs. Bellini lifted a hand as if to steady me, then let it drop.

“Elara, he said a lot of things we couldn’t understand.”

“He said the basement was too cold, and that you kept crying for the baby.”

“He said the golf club was covered in blood, and no matter how much he washed it, he couldn’t get it clean.”

My fingers went rigid.

None of that had happened in this life.
