Reborn Before My Captain Fiancé’s Beloved Dies In A Plane Crash Chapter 21

When the hospital confronted the nurse, she was in the middle of her night shift.

At first, she insisted she had simply misheard the room number.

But the backend logs were clear.

She had pulled my real emergency treatment records first, then, just before Archer arrived at the memorial, printed a completely different chart.

My lawyer set the investigation results on the table.

“The hospital has suspended her. She admitted Chloe asked her to look into your condition.”

“As for the fake chart, she claims she was just helping Chloe play a ‘harmless prank.'”

I lowered my eyes to the timestamp on the report.

At that exact moment, I had been lying in a hospital bed, having just been told I would never dance again.

And they had been busy plotting how to make me look like a lunatic who would lie about her dead child.

“What are the consequences?”

“The hospital is reporting it to the police.”

“Your medical records were illegally accessed and tampered with. That’s not a prank.”

My lawyer paused.

“The assault case from high school has also been reopened.”

“The original chat logs align with the new statements from the accomplices.”

“Chloe has been notified.”

Just then, an unfamiliar number flashed on my screen.

I answered but said nothing.

Chloe’s voice came through, rapid and tight.

“Elara, is that you?”

“Tell the hospital to stop. And that stuff from high school was so long ago—why are you digging it up now?”

I almost laughed.

“Weren’t you the one who claimed in your livestream that I bribed them?”

There was a brief silence on the other end.

Chloe’s voice softened.

“I was just scared.”

“I’m pregnant. I’ve already lost my job.”

“You have everything—why are you trying to push me into a corner?”

“I have everything?”

I glanced down at my leg.

The bruises from rehab still hadn’t faded.

“My child, my body, and my life—which one of those were you planning to give back?”

Chloe’s breathing grew heavy.

“Archer hurt you, not me! I didn’t force him to do anything!”

“He gave me the beacon. He was flying the plane. If you want to hate someone, hate him!”

I didn’t argue.

For once, she was telling the truth.

Every step of the way, Archer had made his own choices.

But that didn’t absolve her.

“When you paid those men to attack me, Archer wasn’t there.”

“When you had that nurse alter my records, he wasn’t forcing you, either.”

I ended the call.
