She Framed Me As Unfit So I’ll See Her In Court Chapter 08

I swallowed the bitterness in my throat and held my mother tighter.

“Mom, this was all Sloan’s doing. I already called the police last night, and the lawyer is handling it. You are not to do anything, and you absolutely cannot go to Caleb’s family.”

She tried to pull away. “But I can’t just stand by and watch them bully you—”

“If you go beg them, they’ll only film it and turn it into so-called proof that our family is out of control.”

I looked at her and said each word clearly, “Trust me. This time, let me protect you and Maya.”

After I walked her home, she called me again. I could hear muffled sobbing through the receiver, and it was a long time before she finally agreed. “All right. I won’t go.”

“I promise. We’re all going to be okay.”

After I hung up, I sat alone in the dark living room and buried my face in my hands.

My chest hurt as if something had been carved out of it, but I didn’t cry.

This time, you don’t have to beg anyone.

And you won’t have to die alone.

At noon the next day, the parents’ group suddenly exploded with dozens of notifications.

Sloan had tagged everyone with a post titled:

Praying for Maya’s Safety

She said she had seen police cars near my home last night, then “casually” mentioned that my lifestyle might pose a danger to the neighborhood and the children. Finally, she suggested that everyone come together to “help Maya.”

I stared at the screen and understood immediately.

She was laying the groundwork for the next anonymous CPS report: *The mother is making the child live in a dangerous environment.*

I didn’t reply. I only took screenshots one by one and preserved the timestamps.

Then Sloan sent another line into the group:

“I’m very worried about Nia and Maya’s safety. She always seems to attract… trouble. Shouldn’t we do something for Maya?”
