The Underboss’s Doormat Wife Is The Don’s Queen Chapter 03
A Cheap Love
I don’t say a word.
Mia suddenly leans closer and whispers directly into my ear.
“Do you know when we first slept together?”
“It was when you were recovering from that car accident. We did it in your own bed.”
“Aria, if you’re smart, you’ll sign the divorce papers right now.”
My entire body begins to tremble.
The day of my car crash…
I was driving through a massive thunderstorm just to pick up Dante’s favorite pastries from a bakery across town. The rain was blinding, and another car slammed into me from behind.
It turns out he sent me out for them on purpose.
While I was bleeding in an ambulance, my husband was fucking another woman in our bed.
And that woman was supposed to be my best friend.
I stare at Mia, letting devastation spread across my face.
“Why are you doing this?”
“Aria, you’re pretty, but Dante is a powerful man now. Women like you are a dime a dozen,” Mia says with a vicious grin.
“If he stays with you, someone else is just going to steal him anyway. Might as well be me.”
“Besides, my psycho husband? I’ve been wanting to dump him for a long time.”
I glance at the time on my phone.
Victor should arrive in exactly ten minutes.
“Will Victor let you go? You told me he’s obsessed with you.”
At the mention of Victor, Mia’s arrogant tone falters for half a second.
“Victor? I snap my fingers, and he does whatever I want.”
“When the time comes, I’ll just trick him into signing the divorce papers. He’s as easy to manipulate as you are.”
She acts completely nonchalant, showing no respect for Victor and even less fear.
But I remember scrolling through Victor’s private social media account.
It was filled with photos of butchered animals, bloodstained knives, and cryptic posts about what he’d do to anyone who touched Mia.
I can’t resist reminding her.
“What if he catches you cheating?”
“He’ll never find out. He’s probably out collecting protection money right now. I’ve got him wrapped around my finger. You wouldn’t understand!”
I almost laugh.
I discreetly glance at my phone.
A message from Victor pops up.
[I’m pulling up.]
I don’t want to let them off the hook so easily.
“I’ll go to the hotel lobby and wait for you. Once you two are… done, can we go home together?”
Mia looks at me in disbelief.
“Are you really this… desperate? You can’t live without him?”
Dante quickly chimes in, his voice dripping with disgust.
“Aria, do you have no self-respect?”
“We humiliate you like this, and you still beg? What the hell is wrong with you?”
I keep my face perfectly earnest, as if he simply can’t understand how much I love him.
“If it weren’t for Dante back in college, I wouldn’t have survived. He protected me.”
“Besides, you paid my tuition, Dante. You took care of me. You just don’t understand… I can’t leave you.”
I intentionally bring up the past.
The truth is, my secret assets are worth far more than everything Dante owns.
But he always loved playing the generous provider, and I let him because it fed his ego.
By saying this now, I hope to trigger whatever humanity he has left.
If he walks away with me tonight, I’ll quietly hand him the divorce papers and let him walk away alive.
Mia is speechless.
Her face tightens with jealousy.
Dante looks annoyed but clearly pleased with himself.
“Aria, stop bringing that up.”
Then he looks at Mia.
“I told you to keep what we do away from Aria. I’m not divorcing her. Don’t start getting ideas.”
Mia’s expression changes instantly.
She puts on a sweet smile.
“I didn’t mean it like that, baby! I was just worried she’d ruin our mood tonight!”
Just then, out of the corner of my eye, I see a sleek black Maybach pull up outside the club.
Lorenzo steps out.
The Don himself.
For a fraction of a second, his gaze locks onto mine.
He knows I’m pretending.
